About the Author
Ever since I started school, writing and reading have been some of my most strong subject areas. I remember even before I started kindergarten , I would pretend I knew how to read and write--who doesn't when they are a kid? When I finally started to read and write, the world seemed so much bigger to me and I realized there was so much more out there than what I knew. There was just something so exciting about reading and writing that it made me think in different perspectives.
When I grew older, teachers told me I excelled in reading and writing which is a blessing. In third grade I was reading at almost a seventh grade level. I didn't really take much notice in what kind of books I was reading, I was just so happy to be able to read. The older I became, the more I didn't really like reading because now there were tv's, cellphones, computers, and all sorts of electronics to keep me from reading. Although I started to neglect reading, writing on the other hand became my next strong point. Writing became a therapeutic hobby of mine. The more I wrote at home, the better I became in school. Since writing became some type of therapy for me, I believe that it helped me to be able to tell a story on paper. Now that I am in an AP Literature class, I have no room to neglect reading and I am being pushed to write more sophisticated than I ever have. - Janet Jacobs November 26th, 2014 |
