AP Literature and Composition
This class not only prepares you for the AP Lit Exam but it also prepares you for habits needed in further education course in college. This course introduces you to what I call, the RAW method.
Read Analyze Write Almost every piece you read in AP Lit, you will have to analyze it, and then write about it. |
Reading is a must in this class. The more you read, the better you get. Since AP Lit is a more dense course than any English classes offered at Harper Creek, the reading is more dense and challenging. But it will pay off when you have fifty pages of science to read by the end of the night down the road.
Analyzing is what I find the most difficult to do depending on what I am reading. Analyzing is more about asking "why" the author did what they did instead of creating summaries. Analyzing is going above and beyond a summary because it requires you to use past knowledge to figure out the message of a piece.
Writing is also important to master because in order to convey your thoughts clearly enough, you must be able to write a good, solid paper with various mechanics and techniques.
